Remote working isn't working for me, what shall I do?
2020 forced a vast shift in working practices for many office based roles across the world, some companies had the infrastructure, some didn't however there has been a significant change in commuting behaviours and preferences.
For Management
Look at the reasons for why remote working isn't working for the organisation. The goals for many companies includes a balanced view for employees, customers, the wider socioeconomic outlook and responsibilities, and we encourage all employees and management to revisit corporate vision, goals and cultures to drive alignment in a positive way.
Simple initial steps include enabling involvement across the workforce in more challenges. The question shouldn't be "How many days is productive working remotely" rather "How could we be more collaborative between Sales and service enablement teams?" as a starter this will open up ideas.
Another fundamental is regular 1:1s with team members, which are entirely possible remote, but certainly encourage discussion about all elements of performance and an involvement in improvements ahead.
For Employees
You are unique as are the circumstances around you, so our best advice is to list the top needs, wants, and non-negotiables in your life and to work backwards from that.
Is working from home a non-negotiable due to dependant care? If so, what specific hours of the day? And so on.
The team at HD Recruit work with specific requirements for both candidates and clients alike, and pride ourselves on personalisation of role suitability, and negotiation at offer stage.
